Overview
SFC Solutions India (Sealing) Pvt. Ltd. is a tier-1 supplier of automotive sealing systems. The project focused on improving prediction of seal behaviour under different loading conditions using nonlinear finite element analysis.
Challenge
EPDM sealing materials show nonlinear behaviour and require accurate material modelling, correlation and validation across insertion, retention, compression load deflection, relaxation and bending conditions.
Solution & Approach
The team used MSC Marc and Mentat to model nonlinear material behaviour and build CAE methodologies around experimental data. SOLIZE supported the team with material modelling, licensing and implementation support.
Benefits
The work improved correlation between simulation and physical tests, supported experimental curve fitting and enabled multiple simulation types to validate seal performance.
